CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCTION

COURSE OUTLINE

This qualification is designed to give you an understanding of digital media whilst developing your creative and technical skills. You will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as website and magazine production, TV and film production, digital graphics and image manipulation, through a range of practical and industry based projects.

Alongside creating professional multimedia products you will have the opportunity to develop your production skills and attributes necessary to succeed in the media industry. You will learn how to work with industry-standard software, including the full Adobe Cloud suite of software which is installed on all computers in our building. This includes Photoshop, InDesign and Dreamweaver, to produce professional-level multimedia products.

This course is designed to provide you with a captivating and informative introduction to the role and increasing influence of mass media in society today. You will develop a critical understanding of the media through engagement with media products and concepts and through the creative application of production skills. This will allow you to develop a broad portfolio to support applications to university or industry placements.

WHAT DOES THIS QUALIFICATION COVER?

This qualification is equivalent in size to one or two GCSE's depending on the pathway you choose. You will learn practical and design skills to help you with media productions. You will also study how to write proposals and pitches for a commission and how to develop a treatment outlining ideas and concepts. You will understand the various roles and responsibilities within the industry, from copywriters to graphic designers to digital developers, and how these roles work together to produce digital content and platforms.

WHAT COULD THIS QUALIFICATION LEAD TO?

The qualification has been designed in consultation with employers and will support application to entry level roles within digital media or to further training and apprenticeships where appropriate. The focus on technical skills allows students to apply for roles such as:

  • Web Coordinator
  • Journalist
  • Marketing
  • Public Relations

THIS COURSE CAN ALSO PROGRESS INTO Level 3 and a level qualifications followed by HIGHER EDUCATION AND FULL DEGREE COURSES FOR EXAMPLE:
