Gifted and Talented

The Bath Studio School is committed to personalising the learning of all students, and believes that every
student needs to be challenged and encouraged to develop to their full potential.

The Bath Studio School will be fully inclusive and provide outstanding pastoral welfare. Students in need of greater support or greater challenge will be identified quickly and will be provided with what they require to enable them to achieve their potential. The four sponsor schools are composed of large Academies, but within this we have experience of smaller, more personalised provision. We will draw upon these experiences to ensure that relationships and a sense of community are at the heart of what we do. A sense of community will be reinforced by other activities e.g. Conferences, which students will plan, run and attend as delegates, and by weekly blogs and website updates. The role of the Personal Coach will be instrumental in setting this community based ethos.

Staff will be trained to meet the needs of talented and gifted students utilising the ‘Challenge award’ framework offered by NACE. We will ensure the following are in place to aid these students throughout their time at the Bath Studio School.

  • Provision of information on HE courses, including visits to Universities and guest speakers from Universities
  • Opportunity to engage in master classes via Skype
  • Established links with High Tech High in San Diego, pioneers in project based learning
  • The opportunity to study in University summer schools and or/participate in L4 learning
  • The opportunity to work together on specific ‘high flier’ projects with Gifted, Able and Talented students from sponsor schools
  • The opportunity to take on some teaching and/or mentoring of Key Stage 4 students within the studio school to develop higher order thinking skills, planning and communication effectiveness.
